Paul Desbarres

MUSICAL DIRECTOR

Paul DesBarres has been the Dukes of Kent Musical Director since January 2018.  In that time, he has led the chorus to their achievement of several Division and District championships.  He has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and the Dukes of Kent since 1987, joining in his mid-teenage years.  Over that long history, Paul has held many of the administrative and creative offices for the chapter, including President, Music Vice President, Treasurer, Librarian, and Assistant Musical Director.  In 1990, he attended Harmony University in St. Joseph Missouri to receive training in the barbershop harmony style, where he received choral directing instruction.

 

Outside of barbershop, Paul owns and operates a market research business that specializes in media and entertainment, providing evidence-based consultation to major streamers and traditional entertainment companies on the changing landscape.

 

As a business owner, Paul has volunteered extensively for local non-profits, including the Annapolis Valley Chamber of Commerce, where he served on various committees, and held the office of President.

 

Paul is a graduate of Acadia University in Wolfville, and lives with his wife (Kimberley), and son (Alexander) in South Alton, Nova Scotia.
